Commission authorises merger of German and Swedish submarine producers, HDW and Kockums

Brussels, 20/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the Swedish state-owned defence company Celsius and the German private consortium Preussag to take joint control of a Preussag subsidiary for the construction of submarines and large defence naval vessels: Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW). In the context of the same operation, HDW will take over Kockums, a Celsius subsidiary that also makes conventionally powered submarines and small defence naval vessels....
