20/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption of the report by Daniel Varela (EPP-ED, Spain), the European Parliament approved the new protocol fixing the fishing possibilities and financial compensation for fishing off Sao Tomé and Principle, from 1 June 1999 to 31 May 2002. The Parliament held a detailed discussion on the multi-annual guidance programmes (MAGP) for small fishing fleets, and on compliance with MAGPs. EUROPE will report tomorrow.
