Parliament approve despite some fears, Greek entry into Euro zone

Strasbourg, 18/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the report by Robert Goebbels (Socialist, Luxembourg), the Parliament approved, by 382 votes for, 40 against and 79 abstentions, the proposal by the European Commission inviting the Council to take a decision allowing Greece to join the Euro zone, on the 1 January 2001. The analysis of the vote shows that the ESP and Greens/ALE groups are the only two from whom no votes where missing to support Greek entry into the single currency. The...
