European Parliament condemns “illegal and politically motivated” detention of five Greek Cypriots in north of island

On Thursday 11 September, MEPs strongly condemned the “illegal and politically motivated” detention of five Greek Cypriot citizens “by the Turkish military occupying regime” while they were visiting their ancestral homes in the north of the country, and called for their immediate and unconditional release.

Three of them were released on 10 September, but remain in the territories occupied by Turkey.
