European Parliament calls for release of political opponent Victoire Ingabire

11/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 11 September, MEPs adopted a resolution condemning the arrest last June of Rwandan political opponent Victoire Ingabire, with 549 votes in favour, 2 against and 41 abstentions. Deeply concerned by “the pattern of abuse against opposition parties and figures, journalists, civil society actors and dissidents,” the European Parliament is calling for the immediate release of Ms Ingabire.
