European Parliament calls for release of Irish activist Abdoul Aziz Goma

11/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 11 September, MEPs passed by a show of hands a resolution denouncing the arbitrary detention in Togo of Irish-Togolese activist Abdoul Aziz Goma. Therefore, considering a series of irregularities in terms of fundamental rights, the European Parliament “urges the Togolese authorities to immediately and unconditionally release [Mr Goma], in line with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention’s opinion”.
