Suppression of session on Friday in Strasbourg continues to give rise to reactions

Strasbourg, 15/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The decision taken on Wednesday by the European Parliament to do away with the Friday sitting in Strasbourg plenary sessions (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.6) continues to give rise to various reactions. Dutch Green member Kathalijne Buitenweg, who has long challenged these sittings, welcomed the result which will mean she does not have to endure long hours of train travel to return home.
