Ministers endorse first specific measures that should lay the foundations of the new European Research Area

Luxembourg, 15/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Research Ministers lent their unanimous support, on Thursday, to the measures proposed by Commissioner Philippe Busquin for the gradual creation of the new European Research Area (see EUROPE of 15 June, page 9). The Council welcomed the work undertaken by the Commission with a view to launching the benchmarking of national policies and called on the Community executive to come forward with a full set of indicators and a performance assessment...
