Stage by stage procedure for attaining statute of European political parties - Broad support, with some opposition

Strasbourg, 15/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is ready to act and to assume its responsibilities regarding the drawing up of a statute for the European political parties. It is ready to do so "immediately", in the context of the next three-way meeting, affirmed Commissioner Michel Barnier, in response to an oral question put by the Socialist Group, the EPP, the Liberals and the Greens.
