Commission forwards proposal to Council for one-year extension of existing association scheme between EU and OCT, to avoid a legal vacuum between its expiry (29 February) and the future system

Brussels, 16/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has forwarded a proposal to the Council for a one-year extension, i.e. until 29 February 2001, of the association scheme linking the European Union to the 20 overseas countries and territories (OCTs) having ties with four Member States: the United Kingdom (11), France (6), Netherlands (2) and Denmark (1).
