European Commission deplores failure of negotiations on North-East Atlantic mackerel quotas

On 14 November, the European Union expressed its deep concern that the majority of North-East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC) members rejected its proposal to set the total allowable catch (TAC) for mackerel in accordance with the recommendations of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES).
