European supervisory authorities list “essential” IT service providers for EU’s financial sector

19/11/2025 (Agence Europe)On Tuesday 18 November, the European financial supervisory authorities (EBA, EIOPA and ESMA) published the list of “essential” ‘critical ICT third-party’ providers for the European Union’s financial sector. This appointment, made in the context of the ‘DORA’ regulation on digital operational resilience, marks a fundamental step in the establishment of a direct supervision mechanism for the technological players most essential to banks, insurers and market institutions. On the basis of the data provided by the financial entities and an assessment carried out with the national authorities, the European authorities have identified the suppliers whose failure could have a systemic impact. From now on, these service providers will have a closer dialogue with the authorities, who will check the robustness of their risk management systems. See the list: https://aeur.eu/f/jiw (BD)
