19/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 19 November, the EU Member States, working in the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper), confirmed the draft political agreement (‘general approach’) on the sixth revision of Directive 2004/37/EC on carcinogens, mutagens and reprotoxic substances at work, known as ‘CMRD’ (see EUROPE 13753/23). The employment and social affairs ministers of the EU27 will discuss the issue on 1 December. In particular, the draft recommends setting new exposure limits for cobalt and inorganic cobalt compounds, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and 1,4-dioxane. Welding fumes are also included in the scope. In particular, the agreement introduces a long-term occupational exposure limit value for isoprene of 8.5 mg/m³ (3 ppm).
