WHO Europe calls for urgent strengthening of safeguards as AI in healthcare accelerates

On Wednesday 19 November, the World Health Organization (WHO) Europe suggested that legal and ethical safeguards should be strengthened as a matter of urgency in the face of the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare systems.

In a report (https://aeur.eu/f/jif) based on responses from 50 European states, the WHO warns that the growing adoption of AI is taking place “without the basic legal safety nets needed” to protect patients and health workers.
