MEPs strengthen farmers’ position in food supply chain

On Wednesday 8 October, the European Parliament adopted (532 votes in favour, 78 against and 25 abstentions) the report by Céline Imart (EPP, French) on the revision of the rules of the Common Market Organisation (CMO), proposing that the names traditionally associated with meat – such as ‘steak’, ‘sausage’ or ‘escalope’ – should be reserved exclusively for livestock products (see EUROPE B13725A7).
