European Commission proposes accelerated safeguard clause for sensitive agricultural products in EU-Mercosur agreement

On Wednesday 8 October, the European Commission published a proposal for an accelerated safeguard mechanism for the specific case of sensitive agricultural products in the EU-Mercosur trade agreement. The system must take account of the fears of several Member States that the current safeguards are taking too long to be implemented.
