European Commission takes Poland to European Court of Justice for failing to provide updated NECP and long-term climate strategy

On Wednesday 8 October, the European Commission decided to bring two actions before the Court of Justice of the EU against Poland for failing to present its updated integrated national energy and climate plan (NECP) and long-term climate strategy.

Under the Governance Regulation, Member States were required to submit their updated NECPs by 30 June 2024 at the latest, taking into account the European Commission’s recommendations and individual assessments. Poland was contacted as part...
