08/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 8 October, the Permanent Representatives of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper I) approved the EU Council’s draft conclusions on the implementation of the 2024 Directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence (see EUROPE 13431/33). The text will be submitted to the Member States at the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) on 17 October. The conclusions call on the Member States to strengthen prevention, early detection and intervention, in particular by countering under-reporting and training health, education, justice and social professionals. The aim is also to support women’s economic autonomy, the recognition of children living in a violent environment as victims, and improved cooperation between professionals and civil society. The European Commission is called upon to integrate these priorities into its future equality strategies. The draft conclusions: https://aeur.eu/f/isr (NP)
