Franco Modigliani Nobel Prizewinner accuses ECB of "programming" 10% unemployment and encourages Europe not to give up until unemployment has been brought down to 3%

Brussels, 04/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - It is a "shame" that an economically strong continent like Europe puts up with the "horrible, horrible" current rate of unemployment, stated Professor Franco Modigliani, Nobel Prizewinner for Economics (1985), during a debate by the EP Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs during preparation of the report by Greek Socialist Giorgos Katiforis on the Broad Economic Policy Guidelines for 2000.
