The French aluminium manufacturer PECHINEY is to sell its 45.5% stake in the American drinks cans manufacturer AMRICAN NATIONAL CAN to Britain's REXAM PLC (£2.39 bn turnover in 1999) for $18 a share, or a total of £1.3 bn.
