04/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the NGO platform from the social sector have launched a huge campaign for the inclusion of fundamental rights - civil, social, union, economic, political and cultural - in the EU Treaty. The aim of this campaign is increase public awareness and that of public decision-makers on the need to include, in a binding manner, these rights into the Treaty, rights that are a central element of the European social model. Two campaign documents, titled "Fundamental rights: the heart of Europe," have been made available to participants and are available on the Internet: http://www.etuc.org or http://www.socialplatform.org
