Judicial proceedings against the Netherlands for failure to respect the directive on water pollution from nitrates from agriculture

Brussels, 01/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has decided to move into the next stage of its infringement proceedings against the Netherlands for its ongoing failure to respect the European directive on the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources (Directive 91/676/EEC). This Member State will be brought before the Court of Justice (third stage of the procedure under Article 226 of the Treaty) for failure to remedy the shortcomings observed...
