Application of current Lomé Convention extended until 1 August 2000, but trade regime of new partnership agreement will apply as transitional measures

Brussels, 01/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The first transitional measures needed to avoid any legal vacuum between the Fourth revised Lomé Convention (which expires on Tuesday 29 February) and the entry into force of the new partnership agreement between the Union and the 71 ACP States (see EUROPE of 11 February, p.8), come into force on Wednesday 1 March.
