The Belgian firm DELHAIZE "LE LION" has taken a 51% stake in MEGA-IMAGE (EUR 27.7 million turnover in 1999 with 500 collaborators and 8 supermarkets), Romania's foremost food retailer. DELVITA, DELHAIZE subsidiary located in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, had a turnover of BEF 13.8 bn in 1999, with 6,327 employees.
