Public hearing on the fight against trafficking in women highlights need to make of this a political priority of the European agenda, as requested by President Prodi and Commissioner Vitorino

Brussels, 01/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - On the initiative of Patsy Sorensen (Belgium, Green/ALE), who is preparing a report on the fight against trafficking in women (which will be discussed at the EP's April plenary session), the Committee on Women's Rights organised a public hearing on the subject. Mrs. Sorensen's aim was to gather the opinions of experts, as well as of victims on this painful issue to flesh out her report. She took advantage of the occasion to ask the European Commission...
