- Poland: according to the governmental investments agency PAIZ, Poland remained the favourite country for foreign investors in Central and Eastern Europe in 1999 with flows of $8.3 bn. This amount is however 17.3% down on the previous year ($10 bn) due to the Russian crisis that destabilised the region. For 2000, PAIZ expects an upturn in Poland's economic growth that should take the form of increased investments estimated at between $10 and 12 bn.
