Frankfurt, 03/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Governing Council of the European Central Bank decided on Thursday to raise its key rate, the rate on main refinancing operations (REFI), from 3% to 3.25%, "starting from the operation to be settled on 9 February 2000". Speaking to the press, ECB President Wim Duisenberg said this increase (expected by experts for March, Ed.) is meant to curb inflation.
