ABN AMRO (Netherlands) and DRESDNER BANK (Germany) have announced their intention of making a joint bid for all the shares of DORTSCHE PETROLEUM and MAXWELL PETROLEUM, two Dutch holding companies with shares in the oil group ROYAL DUTCH SHELL. EUROPE recalls that DRESDNER BANK had already, through its subsidiary VEER PALTHE VOUTE, made a bid for DORTSCHE PETROLEUM in December, bid regarded at the time as "not in accordance with the interests of the shareholders".
