CGU to take over Hibernian (insurance)

Brussels, 19/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the insurance company CGU to take over the Irish insurer Hibernian Group. CGU is active on all insurance and related financial markets in the United Kingdom and throughout the world. Hibernian is essentially active in Ireland and marginally in the rest of Europe. Mr Monti's services observed some risk of overlap in the non-life sector and the fact that the new entity would become number two in the insurance market...
