Venice Commission elects constitutionalist Marta Cartabia as its new President

17/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – At its last plenary session (12-13 December), the European Commission for Democracy through Law - known as the ‘Venice Commission of the Council of Europe’ - elected Italian Marta Cartabia as its new President for a two-year term. She succeeds Claire Bazy Malaurie of France, who held the post for four years.
