22/05/25 (Agence Europe) – As the deadline for transposing the provisions of the revised Renewable Energy Directive was reached on Wednesday 21 May, no EU country has fully met the targets and measures set to support the uptake of renewable energy in the various sectors of the economy (see EUROPE 13296/32). Only eight countries would have notified measures and declared a partial transposition. The directive, which came into force at the end of 2023, establishes a binding target of 42.5% of renewable energy in the overall energy consumption of the EU by 2030, while the latest official figures show a share of 24.5% in the EU energy mix in 2023. The Commission is in close contact with the national competent authorities and is ready to provide the necessary support for transposition and implementation, a Commission official said. (PLD)
