22/05/25 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 21 May, the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, met Libya’s acting foreign minister, Al-Taher Salem Al-Baour, reaffirming the EU’s “strong support” for the country’s stability, unity and prosperity. “We see many opportunities to deepen cooperation, especially on local governance, green transition, humane migration and economic development”, she emphasised on X. According to one source, under the New Pact for the Mediterranean, the EU will offer the opportunity to revitalise and intensify its partnership with Libya, “offering new investment and development prospects”. The EU already provides the country with “institutional and technical assistance” in democratic governance, the rule of law, the economy, migration management - “a key area for collaboration” - and climate, energy and the environment.
