02/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 1 June, the European Commission adopted a report on regional trends in growth and convergence in the EU, which shows that Europe has experienced a significant upward convergence dynamic over the last 20 years. In terms of GDP per capita, by 2021, less developed regions experienced an increase of 51% to 62% compared to the EU average. The report highlights a number of regional asymmetries and how best to address them. Some Member States have regional disparities in access to basic public services such as education or public transport, particularly in rural areas. In addition, disparities in labour market performance, competitiveness, research, digital technology and energy efficiency are still present in some regions. See the report: https://aeur.eu/f/77e (LC)
