€77.5 million in European funding to support 73 staff mobility projects in R&I sector

On Friday 2 June, the Commission announced the first results of the 2022 call for proposals for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions specifically designed to support staff exchanges between academic and non-academic organisations in the EU and worldwide (MSCA Staff Exchanges).

Seventy-three projects have been selected from a range of scientific disciplines. These 73 projects will share a total budget of €77.5 million.

A total of 196 applications were received following the call by the European Research Executive Agency (REA), the research and innovation funding body that manages EU research grants. Of these 196 applications, 189 were found to be eligible.

In practical terms, these grants will enable researchers and administrative, technical or management staff involved in research activities to travel to another country to carry out cutting-edge research or share knowledge. The Commission has said that these specific grants contribute to lifelong learning, which is one of the priorities of the European Year of Skills 2023.

These exchange programmes will be implemented by international partnerships across more than 656 organisations in 76 countries associated with Horizon Europe.

The first grant agreements should be signed by September 2023.

The next call for staff exchanges will open on 5 October 2023.
