Commission proposes a directive aimed to improve compensation for victims of crime

Brussels, 17/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Commission presented a draft directive relating to the compensation by public authorities of victims of criminal acts that have been unable to secure redress from the author of the act. The Commission proposes that the directive oblige all Member states to compensate victims of intentional crimes committed on their territory, and that caused physical or moral prejudice.
