Go-ahead to financing of harbour master's offices in Belgium

Brussels, 17/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission decided not to oppose public subsidies to the Flemish region for the financing of harbour master's offices in Belgian sea ports. Since 1999, the harbour master's offices (mainly responsible for ensuring application of the law and of all regulatory measures for harbour use and policing) have been integrated within port systems that ensure their financing.
