European Commission promises EUR 100 million more for Chernobyl Shelter Fund

Brussels, 05/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Union has decided to grant an additional EUR 100 million (about $95 million) for the Chernobyl Shelter Fund, announced Commissioner Patten on Wednesday in Berlin, where the second pledging conference for this Fund was being held. The new pledge will almost double the Community contribution for the Shelter Fund, which amounted to $100 million.
