Duisenberg tells Parliament Ecosystem is well equipped to face up to uncertainties inherent in "new economy" (of which as yet there is no clear evidence in euro area)

Strasbourg, 05/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - In the United States, there are signs of "the emergence of a new economy", but it is as yet difficult to find "clear evidence of a new economy in the euro area", declared European Central Bank President Wim Duisenberg, speaking on Wednesday morning in the European Parliament debate on the report that CSU member Alexander Radwan drew up regarding the ECB's Annual Report for the year 1999.
