Smet/Gröner Report calls for accelerated implementation of Beijing action programme in Member States and for another conference to be convened in five years' time

Brussels, 20/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The EP Committee on Women's Rights unanimously adopted the report by Belgian Christian Democrat Miet Smet and German Social Democrat Lissy Gröner on the subject of follow-up to the action programme of the world conference on the situation of women (Beijing 1995). It took a stance in favour of convening a further conference of this kind in five years from now and, above all, for establishing clear indicators allowing for progress to be measured. The...
