The Dutch distribution giant AHOLD will be buying the American supermarket chain GOLDEN GALLON (turnover of USD 300 million in 1999 with a workforce of 1,100 and 134 outlets in Tennessee). AHOLD had turnover of USD 20.3 billion in the United States in 1999. The amount of the transaction was not made public.
