Brussels, 09/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the Council and the European Parliament agreed to a stronger mechanism for compensating victims of car accidents taking place outside their country of origin. The draft Directive was presented by the European Commission in November 1997 and specifically covers road accidents abroad involving a car which is registered and ensured in a different EU Member State from the one where the victim resides.
