09/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Presidents of the Agricultural associations Copa and Cogeca, Noel Devisch and Mario Campli met the Commissioner Franz Fischler to put forwards their strong concerns for the use of EUR 300 million from the agricultural budget for the 2001 financing of the aid for the reconstruction of Kosovo. They called for decisions made at the Berlin Summit to be respected and that the revenues from farmers not to be put into question. Furthermore they underlined the importance of a better understanding of the nature of the agricultural co-operatives in competition law and the need to firm up the draft European Statute of Co-operative society and they insisted on the urgency for its reform with the required budgetary means, the joint organisation of the markets for: rice, cotton, olive oil, fruits and vegetables, flax and hemp.
