LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES, the world's leading equipment maker, has announced that it will be consolidating its business telephone activities into a separate venture, unnamed as yet, in order to focus on advanced technologies. The new undertaking represents 20% of LUCENT's total activities and will have turnover of USD 8 billion with a workforce of 34,000.
