Compromise on traditional names makes possible immediate provisional implementation of the global agreement and relaunch of negotiations on wine and spirits

Brussels, 17/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - South Africa and the European Union have finally managed to settle their dispute over the protection of certain traditional names in the framework of the agreement on wine and spirits now under negotiation. This dispute had delayed provisional implementation of the global agreement on trade, development and cooperation for over a month.
