British company AMEC (turnover £3.4 billion in 1998 with 22,000 collaborators) has made a friendly bid at Can$16 per share, on the Canadian group AGRA (turnover Can$1.3 billion for the financing year ending 31 July 1999 with 6,500 employed and a foothold in 24 countries), specialised in engineering, construction and the environment.
