Balance sheets: - France: - The oil group TOTALFINA had net results of EUR 1.73 billion in 1999, up 14% from 1998, and turnover of EUR 42 billion, a 20% rise; - for its first fiscal year in the wake of its merger (1999), the pharmaceutical group SANOFI-SYNTHELABO had consolidated turnover of EUR 5.35 billion, up 8.1% over the combined results of the two groups prior to the merger. - Sweden: - The Swedish telecoms giant ERICSSON has announced a slight decline in its net results in 1999, with SEK 12.1 billion, down from 13 billion a year earlier, but a 17% increase in its turnover, with SEK 215.4 billion (as against 184.44 billion in 1998); - the clothing company H&M -HENNES ET MAURITZ- has announced an increase (+34%) in its net results for 1999 to SEK 3.07 billion and in its turnover (+28%) to 32.98 billion. - Finland: NOKIA (telecommunications) has announced a 56% jump in its taxable results for 1999 (EUR 3.845 billion) and a 48% rise in turnover (EUR 19.772 billion). - United Kingdom: ICI -IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES- had pre-tax profits of GBP 376 million, up 17% over 1998, and slightly higher turnover at GBP 5.64 billion.
