Following its unsolicited bid, German group BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM has announced it has succeeded in taking over control of the Nippon laboratory SSP. Its Japanese subsidiary NIPPON BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM, which already held 19.6% of the SSP capital, increased its stake to 35.86% which is higher than the 33.4% needed for controlling the management of a group in Japan. The takeover bid makes the company worth 134.6 billion.
