Parliament approves, with amendments, Council decision on protecting euro against counterfeiting

Strasbourg, 17/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption of the report by Charlotte Cederschiöld (EPP/ED, Sweden), the European Parliament gave its opinion on the draft Council decision-framework aimed at strengthening the penal framework for protecting the euro against counterfeiting.

While approving this project, the Parliament recommends several changes. It above all calls for the introduction of a provision stipulating that former national currencies, which could still be exchanged...
