German women may join the army because legislation barring their presence is incompatible with the European directive on equal treatment for men and women

Luxembourg, 11/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Court of Justice has declared incompatible with the European directive on equal treatment for men and women German legislation barring women from serving in the German armed forces, other than in medical and military music services. Tanja Kreil may therefore apply for a technica post in the German army, a right she has been denied to date.
