ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) retailing

ASDA (£8.2 bn turnover in 1998), Britain's third largest food retailing chain, recently taken over by WAL-MART (See EI of 16 June 1999), has announced a massive plan to create 27,000 jobs over five years, with notably the opening of twelve new supermarkets this year.
